FAQs

Here are some frequently asked questions.

What Can I EXPECT?

Hot Blues, cold beverages, great food, arts & craft vendors and lots of fun for kids of all ages! We have some of the hottest established and up & coming Blues acts from around the world performing at Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge and partner venues around historic Eureka Springs. Also at the Refuge we have arts & craft and food & beverage vendors, and lots of activites for kids, including do-it-yourself arts & craft projects, a Blues harmonica workshop, face painting and more!

What Can I Bring?

Bring your sun screen, a comfortable chair, an umbrella, dancing shoes and a great attitude! We have space at the back of the festival area for small (10'X10' maximum) shade tents, so bring them and ask the volunteers at the front gate where you can put yours up. (First come, first serverd for that area, as space is limited.)

Vendors will have plenty of food and drinks and arts & crafts available for purchase at the festival, so please bring plenty of cash since it is 7 miles to the nearest ATM and not all vendors accept credit cards!

What Can't I Bring?

No outside beverages or food (except food for infants), weapons or illegal drugs of any kind will be allowed on premises. Also, no coolers, beverages or food will be allowed, except coolers for storing medications or for parents to store food for infants.

While service animals are welcome, other animals are not allowed.

What About Pets?

While service animals are welcome, other animals are not allowed.

What About Camping and Lodging?

Turpentine Creek has a small RV park and has on-site lodging in their Safari Lodges, B&Bs and a small Treehouse. Advance reservations are required!

RV and tent camping is available at nearby parks, including Withrow State Park, Starkey Marina and Park, Beaver Lake Dam Site, Lake Leatherwood City Park, Beaver City Park and Holiday Island. There are also several commercial campgrounds in the area, including Wanderlust RV Park, Kettle Campground and Eureka Springs KOA.

Finally, there are dozens and dozens of hotels, motels, cabins, cottages, bed and breakfasts and tourist lodging available in historic Eureka Springs. Check out our Sponsor Page for a list of those that support Blues Weekend!

Can I bring my own cooler and food?

We allow coolers only for storing medications or for parents to store food for infants.

Sorry, but we don't allow outside food or drink at the Refuge. We rely on part of the food and beverage sales along with ticket sales to help raise funds for Turpentine Creek, as all profits from the beverage sales and a percentage of all food sales go directly to help feed and provide housing for around 200 lions, tigers and bears!

With paid admission to the festival, you can "tail gate" at your vehicle in the parking lot. You just won't be able to see the bands while you do so, and you can't bring any food or drinks from your vehicle into the festival grounds.

Why is there a ticket fee?

The small fee helps offset the cost to process the credit card charge and print your wristband. Compared to using TicketMaster, we love that we save every purchaser money.

DO YOU MAIL TICKETS?

NO! To save money and eliminate the possibility of lost or late-delivered tickets, WE DO NOT MAIL ANY TICKETS. Instead, your PayPal receipt (which is automatically emailed to you after the purchase) and your photo ID are all you need to pick up your wristband(s).

What does it cost to park?

NOTHING AT TCWR! That is one of the main reasons we've moved to Turpentine Creek-- AMPLE FREE PARKING JUST A SHORT WALK FROM THE MUSIC, AND VIP AND HANDICAP ACCESSIBLE PARKING IS RIGHT NEXT TO OUR ENTRANCE!

Downtown parking is VERY limited, so we encourage you to use the trolleys and Abundant Taxi to get to the clubs from your hotel. The trolleys DO NOT RUN LATE, so please use Abundant Taxi to get back to your hotel after a late night of partying in Eureka Springs!

IS THE FESTIVAL HANDICAP ACCESSIBLE?

YES! That is another of the reasons we've moved to Turpentine Creek. FREE HANDICAP ACCESSIBLE PARKING AND RESTROOMS ARE RIGHT NEXT TO OUR ENTRANCE !

Will alcohol be sold?

Yes. Beer, wine and other beverages will be sold by our host, Turpentine Creek. You help support Big Cats with every purchase, but please, don't over-indulge!

DOES THE MUSIC BOTHER THE ANIMALS?

Turpentine Creek has hosted events like our Father's Day Sunday Blues Picnic for years, and the animals have never shown any signs of stress from the music. We don't run late into the night, so we don't disturb their sleep, and our stage is far enough from the habitats that the sound levels have dissipated far before the music gets to the animals. The nearest habitat is over 900 feet away from the stage, so the sound will be quieter than normal conversation at the habitats. And remember, music soothes the savage beast!

How do I get to the Refuge?

Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge is 7 miles south of Eureka Springs on Highway 23, and 73 miles north on Highway 23 from Interstate 40 at Ozark. We are less than 5 hours from St. Louis and Memphis, 4 hours from Kansas City and Tulsa, 3 hours from Little Rock, 2 hours from Springfield and less than an hour from Fayetteville, Rogers, Bentonville and Branson!

Do you offer a shuttle service?

We are trying to arrange a shuttle service, and will post details ASAP!

My band is awesome! Why don't you hire us to play?

We support area musicians and Blues Societies by booking bands that represent our area at the International Blues Challenge. We also book national and international touring acts that we have seen throughout the years, especially acts that have earned a Blues Music Award or nomination, or even better, a Grammy Award or nomination. We also refer Blues acts to our partner venues for consideration. If you'd like to be considered, please send the following to info @ EurekaSpringsBlues.com.

  • A brief bio. Please include the bio in the body of the email. Do not send it as an attachment.
  • A link to a PDF of your stage plot and technical rider.
  • A link to your web site.
  • A link to your Facebook page.
  • A link to your favorite YouTube Video of you and/or your band.
  • Links to MP3 copies of your best three songs.
  • Links to two HIGH RESOLUTION photos. One "portrait" orientation, one "landscape" orientation. The files should be at least 4 MB in size.

DO NOT SEND FILES, ONLY LINKS TO THEM. We do not open any attachments, so sending files will likely cause your application to be rejected.

WE DO NOT RETURN CALLS OR EMAILS INQUIRING IF YOUR BAND HAS BEEN SELECTED. Sorry, but we get hundreds of submissions each year, and as volunteers we just don't have the time.

ALSO, DO NOT SEND US LINKS TO REVERB NATION EPKs. THEIR PHOTO FILES ARE NOT ONLY A PAIN TO DOWNLOAD, THEY ARE TOO SMALL AND DO NOT MEET OUR NEEDS. IF YOU WANT A GREAT PRESS KIT SERVICE, WE RECCOMEND FESTIVALSUBMIT.COM!
